Music Videos

Finding out information about music videos to start off the project...

What does a music video do?
- It can help to promote the artist
- It helps the artist get exposure on national television
- It creates a visual to go alongside the song - we can identify with the artist

Analyzing music videos:

Adele - Someone Like You music video.
Slow camera movements of panning shots - it's a slow song so the camera movements fit in with this.
Lots of close up shots of Adele's face - this is so that the viewer can identify with the artist

Christina Aguilera - Hurt music video.
Slow motion shots are used so we can grasp the emotion of the visuals alongside the slow pace of the song.
Close ups of the artist are used once again - identification.
A story is told throughout the music video to keep us watching it

Beyonce - Halo music video.
White colour themes match the angelic theme of the lyrics and song.
Beyonce gives eye contact to the camera - makes the audience feel as if they are engaged to the artist - she is singing to them.
Handheld camera movements make the video feel more personal to the viewer.
