PITCH

Out of a list of 12 songs ranging in genres we chose Rihanna- Your Love. We chose this song because it suited our style and we thought it was a good choice as in our group we are all girls so filming and ideas would come more naturally.

Collecting ideas

We collected ideas for our music video by watching lots of different artists including  Beyonce, Rihanna, Pink etc By doing this we were able to come up with themes, locations, costume and actors.

Alexandra Burke - 'Hallelujah'  From this video we got the idea of using candles in a dark room as an effect and also as a different lighting technique.

Avril Lavigne- 'When you're gone'   From this video we got the idea of having a story line along side the artist performing to the camera. This would make the video more interesting and give it more depth. it is quite a common feature in music videos e.g Taylor Swift uses this convention a lot, making our video convey the ideal of a pop stars video.

Rihanna- 'Take a bow'   We already had the idea of having just the artist singing to the camera in a dark room with stage lighting but this video just confirmed our thoughts as when we watched it we really liked how it looked.

Music Video plan

We had the idea of having 3 different scenes all in one room, to show different stages of a relationship over a period of time and how a relationship changes but the world around you doesnt. It will be temporal edited as there is no real time line to the video.

Scene 1 : this would take place in the room but it would be bright and the mood would be a lot lighter. We would include lots of close ups, handheld camera movement, dolly movement and static. We plan to use lots of eye level angles to allow the audience to connect with the artist helping the artist to create a persona and identity. This relates to one of Goowins points of 'meeting the demands of the record label' encouraging voyeurism.

Scene 2: Artist will be dressed in black contrasting from the bright scene to show the 'bad side of love' Here we will either make the room appear darker or use the garage with sheets up, and we will only use close ups so that it appears to be the same room.

Scene 3: The artist will be seen with her boyfriend play fighting, fighting, joking, crying etc. This story line shows how the relationship develops and changes throughout the course of the song.

Setting

A plain white room with a sofa, bed and desk in, so fairly plain to show emphasis on the artist. the room will be used for all scenes or will give the illusion that all scenes were filmed in the room as we may use the garage to shoot the darker scene.

This will all take place at Anna Ts house in Sawston

Actress/ costume

Artist played by bessie Walker, who is a performance studies student at Hills Road sixth form college.

She is going to be a female solo artist. The ideologies our star will convey is materialism as her clothing and her hair/make-up will fit the usual ideal of a pop star.We chose her because  her because shes confident, can act and looks like a 'star'.
For our male we have another drama student named Josh Starling who we picked for the similar reasons as Bessie.

Dark plain dress/ top for dark scene and white clothes for light scene. For the story line scenes we will dress them in every day clothes e.g jeans and a top to show they are a normal couple.
