Half term- star persona, digipak and magazine ad

1. What is your finalised star persona? Include a photograph of your star that best communicates their persona. Discuss what ideas/ideologies they communicate (materialism, rebellion, innocence, the cultural “ideal”, alternative to the “ideal” etc.). How do they communicate these ideas? How is their persona expressed visually? (costume, hair, makeup, bogy language, lighting, framing etc) How is it expressed through lyrics, genre?
This is a screen shot of our artist which i believe represents her star persona. She is modern, attractive and influential. Here her look fits the cultural ideal of a pop star as she is wearing a simple black dress which shows off her figure makinging her appealing for men and making her seem like a object atracting attention to herself and her physique. The light also highlights this along with the pose she is positioned in. The light puts focus on her body and face, showing off her long brown hair and skin but the light has also created a shadow showing a dark side of her which is mysterious and engages peoples attention on her.  Her position is open and suggestive which catches the attention of men, this also brings attention from females as they would like to be looked at by men the same way she is, making her ann idol. The dress she is wearing creates emphasis on materialism, a big factor of a popstars lifestyle. Her eye contact with the camera builds a focus on 'looking' which also helps the audience connect with the artist because they them feel involved. The framing of the shot is positioned to show the main part of her body and is just below eye level subconcously suggesting she is more desireable and that we should look up to her. This is a common technique artists use during potoshoots or videos.
2. How are you going to ensure continuity between the 3 products? Remember your digi-pack cover cannot look like a single (can’t be images from the music video) but an album. Compare your ideas for the digi pack cover with professional promo images. A digi-pack is a combination of audio and video (a cd and a dvd with special features such as a few music videos or concert videos)

For our digipak we would like to use 3 different photos that look professional but unique. We want the images to portray our artists star persona. We will do this by making our star look really glamorous and made up, to ensure our artist fits the ideal, attracting audience. We want her to be recogniseable as the same person in the video, but we are aiming to make her appear a lot more like a pop star who conciders materialism a large part of their career. We will make this happen by dressing our artist in a unique and glamorous dress with statement jewellery. Or we may do the opposite and have her look natural with minimal make up and a plain dress/ outfit, we would do this to allow her to be more relatable for an audience,to show that she is able to look beautiful without a lot of fuss.

This digipak from Katy Perry's album 'Teenage Dream' is one we may concider our digipak images to like, with the extravogant dress and accessories contrasting against a dark background. Although the images inside of the digipack do not relate to anyof her singles there is a reocurring theme throughout her other videos, adverts and photoshoots which creates a unique selling point and builds on her star persona.
I also like the idea of making our artist seem natural with a simplistic theme. This allows the focus of the audience to be more on the artist herself rather than her costume.

3. Write down all of your individual or group ideas for the digi-pack cover and magazine advert. Ideas for costume, setting, lighting, colour, hair, makeup, Photoshop special effects etc. If you can do some mock ups of your own, or experiment with effects in photoshop.
